We made it to Ogallala, Nebraska by 7:30 this evening. Not too shabby. It really was a fine day considering we were in the car for over 12 hours. The girls were unbelievable! It may of been the unlimited screen time or the countless snacks, but I think I’m just going to go with the stellar parenting they are receiving as the reason why I almost forget they were in the backseat a few times.
Giant gobstopper/jawbreaker suckers!
One of the highlights of the day was the great success we had on day one of the license plate game! It’s kind of like I-80 is a major road across the country.
We also spotted lots of animals already!
(Zak didn’t think cows should count. I didn’t think red-winged blackbirds should count. We compromised.)
The worst part of the day was when we arrived at our hotel and I went to change into my only pair of flip flop I brought on the trip. Turns out I packed one flip flop each from two different pairs. My only flip flops for 30 days. Zoe suggested we just run into the nearest Old Navy and pick out a new pair. I’m thinking that there isn’t an Old Navy within many, many miles of us, but I can look into that more tomorrow.
We ended the evening at a great local burger joint with a pitcher of beer and the Blackhawks on the tv. It was perfect!
Now we are all in bed, resting up for another fun day tomorrow!
