What a day it was! A bizarre combination of pure boredom, high anxiousness, crazy busy, and checklists. Oh my goodness, the checklists. As I’m writing this with 10 hours until departure, I think everything is crossed off the checklists. I hope.
We threw ourselves a nice going away party last night. It was great fun to see friends, family, and neighbors one last time before the summer passes. Our neighbor, Michelle, said that our plan was to fit a whole summer of fun into one night. And gosh, we did. So the morning started with late start and a headache.
Once we rolled out of bed, Zak scrambled the last of the eggs in the fridge and toasted the final two frozen waffles. Then the work started. The hard work of actually packing. Fitting all the clothes into our allotted two cubic feet each, squeezing all the food into the newly found crevices of the car, organizing the back seat entertainment for the girls, and finding spots for all the hiking and camping gear. As the hours of the day ticked away, everything got done. We are ready.
