Backpacking at North Cascades NP

This morning we grabbed some of those delicious croissants we had yesterday and were on the road. They were a really got last Canadian treat.

Unfortunately, we have to go back to the U.S. so we had to go back past security. The guy wanted to look in our trunk but didn’t want to have to take everything out so that was almost super scary.

We made it to North Cascades just before 10:30. We picked up our permit and talked to a very nice ranger. He and Ellie talked about being a ranger.

The road to the trail head was super scary. If was one of those roads where you have to go less that 5 mpr. When we finally got to the trailhead we enjoyed some pickle chips and got ready for the assent.

We hiked the Thornton lakes trail which was 5.5. It was straight up for lots and lots of up. It was really pretty. After we went up to the top of the hill (mountain?) We started going down, a lot. After a little while of going down we realized that we made a wrong turn so we had to go back up just a little bit. I can’t wait to go back up tomorrow. Also it was super steep. There was this one part where we had to jump across different rocks and I actually thought I was going to die.

When we arrived at our new home for the night we sat by the lake. After awhile it started to rain so we set up our tents. As soon as we you into them it started pouring. We will see if any of is want to brave to rain for dinner tonight.
