“The higher you climb,
The more that you see.”
Dan Fogelberg
Today we climbed very, very high. All the way to the second highest point in the continental US, the summit of Mt. Elbert. Only Mt. Whitney in California is higher. This was also our second state highpoint of the week. AND a hike that’s been on our wishlist for years since we chose to turn around 600 feet short of the summit a few years back. We all had an intense feeling of accomplishment. Climbing nearly a mile will do that.
Zoe has been saying all afternoon that there is nothing to write about today and I thought she was totally wrong. Now that I’m writing though I think she may be right. There isn’t much to say except that we did it. One step at a time we made it to the top. It was hard and incredibly rewarding. We did it.
