Day 38

I had such a hard time getting up this morning because I feel asleep so late and just wanted one more hour of sleep nonetheless I did get up and in the shower. We went downstairs for breakfast and had homemade french toast, scrambled eggs, and ham. We then got on the road and started driving to bandaleir. Halfway there we picked up lunch for later Bagel sandwiches. Once we made it to the visitor center we got our permit for backpacking. We went outside and had our lunch. After that we went to the trailhead. For the third day in a row we put our backpacking pack on and started hiking. The start we very hard because it was 1000 feet up over 1 mile. In the car on the way to the park we looked at the radar and saw big storms. We kinda just hoped for the best and that did not work out in our favor because, after a mile at the top we could see a huge storm coming at us so instead of going back to the car we set up a tent. Well we waited for the rain to start we texted people telling them if they didn’t hear from us in the next few hours to be worried. There was shockingly good survive on the top of the mesa so I messaged with a friend who is also in new Mexico right now. Once it did start to rain we got in the tent and played games we had grabbed out of our bags before covering them. Once the storm passed we keept going. Eventually we made it to the edge of the canyon and went down. We were able to quickly find a campsite and set up tents. We relaxed then had dinner. My parents are now outside drinking whiskey. Zoe and I are alone in our tents. I can’t wait for my mom to get on the tent so we can pick up our game of phase ten.
