Day 37

I’m sure you have heard the song once I was seven years old, well fun fact when I was seven I climbed my first mountain. It was twin sisters peak and on it you are able to summit two mountains in one day. Unfortunately due to circumstances we only summited one and untill today we still had not been able to get to the top of two mountains in one day. Today started off on a great note as I did not have to wake up because I never fell asleep last night. I was freezing and kept slipping down. Anyway once I got out of my tent at 5:45 after hearing a conflict between my dad and a dog. I was told to have breakfast but honestly had no appetite at the time, so I took the Cliff bar and apple sauce took one bite out of the cliff bar then shoved the rest in my day pack for later. We had a two thousand foot climb to the summit and not to brag but I was leading us today and did a pretty good job if I do say so myself. I was able to keep a steady pace well taking breaks when needed. At one point I needed a break, so we stopped for a minute and soon after spotted big horn sheep. They must have been eating breakfast so we watched for a few minutes then moved on. I’m glad we started hiking so early because being in the shade made it much easier. We got up the the sattle between two mountains and started towrds wheeler peak aka the highest point in new Mexico. We made it to the top at 8:15 ish and later figure out then we were the fith group to summit that day witch is insane because of all the people we passed well going down. Once my parents finished there beer we headed to the next summit and finally we could saw we summited two mountains in one day. Going down was easier then going up but not by much because of how steep and rocky it was. We made it back to our tents. We repacked our bags then went back to the car. Along the way we passed a bvarinan lodge so we got a pretzel. Once back at the car we drove to the bed and breakfast we are staying at. The room was really hot so we went to chili’s. We then drove to a really good looking restaurant where we are now waiting for a table. Also a big shout-out to my mom since our trip to Colorado on spring break I have been changing my mom to go 24 hours one day without swearing and just the other day she did so good job and a well deserved shout-out. Can you keep it up?

  1. Ellie, I have no doubt you were a magnificent leader! But your mom? No swearing in 24 hours? Impossible!
