Hold My Hand

“With a little peace and some harmony

We’ll take the world together

We’ll take ’em by the hand”

Hootie & The Blowfish

Today was a very errandy Road Trip day. First up, Fred gained a minor chip in his windshield that needed patching. We’ve made the mistake of not getting these fixed quickly enough in the past so wanted to be on top of it this time. Our insurance company sent a person from Safelite to our hotel to fix it at no charge. The only downside was we’d need to wait around at the hotel for him. It was a pretty great morning though. We sat on the porch and watched the river while having breakfast and sewing. We also got our last shower for several days since we have two nights of camping at COHO on the agenda now.

One of the biggest issues on these trips is the lack of fresh fruits and vegetables in our diets. Occasionally the cravings take over and we stop at a grocery store to try to cobble something together. Today’s lunch was one of those meals. Molly spotted a large container of lettuce and then supplemented it with tomatoes and blue cheese. I shared with her and it was a perfect lunch (with a side of leftover Zia).

The next chore to check off the list was a meeting with Wildfire Adapted Partnership. An organization that advises on how to best protect homes against wildfire. I was thrilled to learn that overall we’re in really good shape. We do have some tasks to do, but everything should be pretty easy for us to accomplish.

We topped the day off with dinner at the Dolores Brewery. More specifically beer from the brewery and food from “BBQ” as the sign at the tent across the street read. It turns out that sometimes buying ribs from the back of a truck is the right thing to do. Now we’re all sitting in Fred watching the sun set and avoiding the mosquitoes while writing. The little buggers should be gone soon and then we’ll have a little patio time before climbing in our tents for what should be a cool and good night’s sleep.
