Day 17

Today we woke up in tents at chaco culture. We had cliff bars for breakfast then got in the car to drive to the trailhead for today. We once again were doing a hike that we had tried to do in the past but could not complete last time we had to turn around due the fact there was a thunderstorm. The hike starts going up a slot canyon and this is my favorite kind of hike because it was scrambling. Once we made it to the top we were able to see some ruins, the hike was about 6 miles and it was very hot because we were on top of a Mesa the whole time. The hike was pretty flat once we got to the top witch was nice. The hike was a lollipop so we went back down the slot canyon. We then went back to the car where we had peanut butter and jelly. At this time it was about noon 115 degrees and there was really nothing else to do at chaco so dispite the fact we were supposed to camp another night after stopping at the visitor center we packed up our tents and started the drive down the dirt road where we found some service and booked a hotel. We all took showers then relaxed for a bit. We went to a brewery and had some loaded fries and my parents had drinks. After that we went to a Mexican restaurant where I had a burrito. Happy father’s day.
