Day 7

Close your eyes and imagine your climbing a mountain pretty hard, Right? Now imagine that instead of walking on diet and rocks your walking on sand. Yeah that’s what we did today. The day started like any other with sleeping in and holiday day inn breakfast we ate in the car today because we had a 3 hour drive to the great sand dunes. I don’t really know what I expected but it was not that. The hike it’s self was only about 2 miles but it took us more than an hour and a half. This was due to how hard it is to even hike on flat sand but when you are also going straight up it makes it a lot harder we did take a lot of breaks but the feeling of accomplishment at the top was amazing. After the hike we went back to the car and were able to pour about a pound of sand out of our shoes. Originally we were supposed to backpack at the sand dunes and I don’t even know how that would have worked. Because we decided not to camp in the sand we instead went to our property. It has been about ten weeks since I was out there and the house has changed a lot. After touring the house we dicited to set up our tents since we did not have a hotel for tonight (I can’t wait to shower tommorow). For dinner we wet to a Mexican restaurant Where I had a carnas asada quesadilla. Now we do the first of many nights of camping.
