Today started like most other roadtrip days, coffee, cinnamon rolls, and a quick car drive but took a turn I think now of us expected.
When ellie recommended we take the tour of Ben’s old fort none of us knew there would be a live reenactment of what fort life would have been like back then. I personally get very bored at forts in general. I don’t care where the army slept or kept their guns. Bens old fort was no exception.
Usually I would say that I have a pretty open mind but when a guy came running over to us ans said “I can’t sneak9 up on anyone with these spurs” I just about lost it. Little did we know that would be our nameless tour guide.
Our tour guide was something. He would say a stupid “joke” that no one on the tour would laugh at but he would. Not just laugh at his own joke but really delayed so by then everyone forgot why he was laughing and it was akward.
I will now give you a visual description of our tour guides outfit: Seude pants, a blue flannel, and a lighter blue tie that was only halfway tied around his neck, a straw cowboy hat and tin mug he carried around, only to take dramatic sips, completed the look.
We spend a good 20 minutes learning about trading. not what they traded or with whom, but the actual definition of trading. He gave 20 minutes worth of examples. I zoned out by minute 4. One uninteresting thing I did learn was the categories of trading: 1. Things that make life easier 2. Things that make you look/feel good and 3. entertainment. I had to put on my sunglasses because I was worried I would roll my eyes too much.
At one part of the tour the guide left for a minute came back and asked “does anyone know where Jose it” No. In what world would I know where Jose is. Later when we did find Jose he was nkt very pleased and tried to get out of whatever our guise wanted him to do. Poor Jose.
Also, I should add there were Peacocks, chickens and cats running around. That should explain a lot.
OMG I FORGOT TO SAY THAT THEY WERE QSTILL REBUILDING IT AND IT ISNT EVEN THE ACTUAL FORT. this leaves me with one question why is the government spending money on rebuilding buildings that look like they are from the Three Amigos. I still have so much to say about this tour that I’m probably forgetting so don’t be surprised if I pop in a few more details in thr coming days.
Ok so before that hopefully once in a lifetime experience we went to bents new fort. It was quite and had good views ans you could call Brad with questions. We didn’t.
To end the night we walked around CO springs and another little town i forgot the name of. We are going to In and Out for dinner which will be good. Before we left for the roadtrip I hadn’t eaten meat for almost 2 years. In and Out is defiently an exception.
Yes, this HAS to be El Guapo’s fort!
Next time I am near Ben’s old fort will you and Jose come on the tour with me pleeeeeeeease?
No. Maybe Jose will…
