About 95% of the people we tell about Zoe’s speech issues tell us that there will be a burst and she’ll just explode with language one day. They say, based on their own experiences, that the “burst” would happen at 18 months, then 21 months, then 22 months, then 24 months. We’ll Zoe’s exactly 23 months and picked up TWO words TODAY!!! We were eating apples for lunch and suddenly Zoe started saying, “ahhp-le.” Then she wouldn’t stop saying it. A bit later we were heading upstairs for nap and I said, “Ready, babe?” And Zoe said, “ba-bee.” Then she just kept saying baby over and over again! She starts speech therapy next Wednesday, but maybe this is the beginning of that burst everyone talks about!
