*This post has my blog from today and yesterday because I did not have enough wifi to post yesterday. I am also going to post my blog from yesterday individually but it will also be here*
Post from 6/23-Today was are rest day so I’m going to keep this short. Thĺus morning we slept in and had poptarts and apple sauce (we did eat this well under parent supervision). We then rested for a bit then hit the town. All we did there was have lunch. Then when we got back zoe and I went down to the narrows hike and only went about a tenth of a mile in before we went to the river. We then shuttled back to the lodge and met up with our parents who went on a different hike. We rested some more then went to the lodge for dinner. I had steak. After dinner I convince my dad to buy me a baseball from the gift shop. Zoe and I threw it back in forth until she decided that it hurt to much so she sat back down. I tried to get my mom and dad to do it with me but they said they were to old for it so now it is time for bed.
Post from 6/24-Today took some twists and turns. Some up and downs and some unexpected endings. We woke up In Zion at 5:30. We were on the road at 6:05 for what was supposed to be a 55 minute drive to the trailhead. It ended up being about an hour and 10 minutes though because we missed a turn. Then when we were at the trailhead we did the routine that we do at the beginning of every hike. Tie boots, figure out whose backpack it whose, put on sunscreen, and grab a few snacks. Then we started the hike. I started leading and last night at dinner I had the great idea to take a picture of every group of people. So every quarter mile we took a different groups photos. The hike was about 3.3 miles each way. We were going to observation overlook. At the top you could see angels landing witch we did a few days ago. In the hike you go down on the way out and then up on the way back. There was 900 feet gain. So not a ton compared to what we have been doing recently. The plan for tonight had been to drive to a hotel that was about half and hour away from the trail. One of the reasons we were staying at this hotel is because of the restaurant that is attached. They have honest to God the BEST biscuits and gravy ever. When we were finishing the hike we realized hey it is not even 10 yet and we are done with our hike. Ok so let’s skip the hotel we had for tonight and drive back to Mancos (about 5 hours of driving). We’ll all agreed this was the best plan. But wait if we don’t stay at the hotel then how are we to get the biscuits and gravy. So we added a pit stop along the drive to have a late breakfast. We got to the restaurant at 10:52 and they stopped serving breakfast at 11 so we sat down and ordered right in time to the breakfast. The biscuits themselves have sausage, egg, and cheese on the also. I was only able to eat half so I have the other half next to Me for later in the car ride. My plan is to eat it well I watch monsters University with Zoe. Us going back to the house a day earlier works out really well because we have guests coming tomorrow so we will be able not have to rush cleaning and washing the sheets. For dinner tonight we are going to stop in Cortez for pizza!
