Picture this. Sleeping in as late as you want. Hot, dark coffee in a real mug, not a paper or styrofoam cup. Sitting on a porch looking out through a forest to a mountain range. Hummingbirds eating nector from nearby plants. Reading a book about growing up on a Navajo Reservation. Cool air as the sun began to creep its way up. That’s how our day started and it made us dream of our future.
A breakfast of homemade bread toasted with raspberry jelly was the fuel we needed to begin this lovely day. The first adventure was spotting 11 wild turkeys, two of which were babies, tromping through the pinion pines and junipers on their way to start the day. Then we, along with Mary, made the hour long drive to Telluride. We drove the miles and miles along the perimeter of Ralph Lauren’s ranch, admiring his prestigious cattle and copywrited fence. The town of Telluride is simply beautiful and we took a lovely stroll along the main street. Mary recommended one of her favorites for lunch, a Mediterranean food truck. It was simply divine, and the patio seating with magpies bouncing around was so picturesque.
With full bellies, we took the gondola ride to the top of some fancy ski mountain and hiked down to another ski resort town on the other side of the mountain. After browsing in a few shops, we took the gondola back up to the peak and then down to Telluride. It was a perfect mountain afternoon.
The rest of the day was spent on the Berry’s patio, drinks some ridiculous barrel aged double IPA and enjoying guacamole made by the guac master herself, Ellie. Dinner was a stunning bolognese eggplant sauce and salads. Two homemade meals in two nights, we are ridiculously spoiled. Dinner turned into dessert which turned into some stargazing. It was a most delightful day and it will be really sad to say goodbye to such amazing hosts in the morning.

That sounds like heaven.
You are welcome…no, make that ORDERED….to come back soon! Love you all!
