“In a little while, I’ll be there” – U2
For the first time in 35 days we got to not only sleep in, but also relax with a cup of coffee. The only plan on the agenda was s visit to Telluride sp we took our time getting ready, finishing yesterday’s blog posts and enjoying the views along with our breakfast. Eventually we got on the road and Mary drove us the hour south.
We made a brief stop in Telluride a couple years ago and decided then it was a place we wanted to return to when we had more time. Our first stop was a Mediterranean food truck where I had some great chicken kabobs with Greek salad and spanakopita. Although it seemed like storms were threatening all around us we escaped the rain and heard only one giant thunderclap.
After lunch we rode the gondola to the top of the mountain overlooking Telluride and did a nice little hike 1,000 feet back down to Mountain Village. We finished off our day with another gondola ride back over the mountain to where we started. Way to go Telluride for the awesome free public transportation!
We spent the afternoon back at the Berrys enjoying the outdoors and an awesome bourbon barrel aged DIPA. It’s been a great couple days here with great hospitality. The most challenging hiking of the trip along with quite a bit of camping is coming up ahead of us making it even harder to leave. Thank you Berrys for taking us in!
We miss you already….SIGH!!!
Hi Knott’s Family,
The food sounds wonderful. Did they have Saganaki on the menu? I have such a taste for that. Have you ever had it? It is magnificant. Flaming cheese with brandy poured on it then they light it on fire and put out the fire with squeezing fresh lemon juice on it. DELISH!
Carry on.
Have fun.
Amd be careful.
