El Morro, and Chaco Culture National Historical Park

Today I started to get to the point where I wish I was home. Especially tomorrow for the 4th of July. We are going to miss the parade, neighbors, BBQ in our yard, and Uncle Todd stopping traffic. Also, I am missing all of the kids to play with luckily we are over half way done though.

This morning we woke up and had a HIE breakfast. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a breakfast that’s not Clif Bars/Pop Tarts/Kix.

We were on the road by 8:15 stupid Starbucks took longer than expected. El Morro was beautiful. They had Petroglyphs, Pueblos, and graffiti. Most of the graffiti was from the 17, 18, and 19th centuries. Most of them were written in Spanish but it was a bit different from now like June. Some of the funniest ones translated to “I am here with the honorable something something. Then underneath it in it’s own box said I (a name I don’t remember) was here. We went on a hike that was beautiful. At the top there was a volunteer who was doing an amazing sketch of the Pueblo. The Pueblo its self was amazing. It is an estimated 300 rooms and housed 1,000 people. It was pretty darn amazing.
You thought that was cool, I did too. But this was better, well the architect was anyway. Nothing was rebuilt. And the architecture was amazing. It was much more neat than all the others. Also, we learned that this was the center of everything else. All of the other Pueblo were based off of this amazing one. Also, we got to see the stairs that they built. We went on a 3.6 mile hike. It was super fun because you got to scrambling in a slot canyon. Unfortunately, we had to to turn around because of the rain. On the way back we we saw a layer of rock that was completely shell fossils.

We decided to stay at a hotel rather than camp because we are that cool. Also we are all kind of missing breweries so we decided to stop at a cute one.

After we went to the fireworks show it was pretty lame. It definitely wasn’t as good as a firework show with Caleb and Carter.
