This morning we woke up from camping at 6:40 and we arrived at the visitors center by 8.
Our tour started at 8:15. Our ranger was very informative and talked about what her family and ansestors used all of the different plants for. The hike decended about 1,000 feet over 1.5 miles. When we got to the Bottom it was amazing. None of the houses were restored all of the roofs were original, even the ladders were original.
The hike back up was super hard. We stopped for a break many times. When we were super close to the top my mom got a call from the neighbors. We basically sprinted to the top to call them back. When we asked what they did over the summer Carter said “eat da food” that definitely made my day! We then drove to Canyon De Chelly. We did a driving tour. And it was weird seeing the homes in the national monument. I don’t think that it should be a Monument and just be a reservation.
We are going somewhere for dinner and tomorrow we are driving and going a couple of places it should be a boringish day.
The boys talk about you guys every day! They were so excited to talk to you. I’m so glad Carter shared such important details of his summer with you.
