This was a tough trip to plan since there are an overwhelming number of NPS sites in both NM and AZ. Hopefully we picked good ones. Take a look at the map above and share any of your personal favorite spots along the route in the comments!
We LOVE all the national parks and monuments in Utah! We started at Zion and ended at Arches. All the parks were great, but we tended to like the parks with more diversity of plant an animal wildlife. I didn’t see it on your route, but Capitol Reef NP was a surprisingly interesting place for the historic features. The best parts of the parks for us were getting up at sunrise, getting hikes in before noon, then relaxing in the afternoon heat before an early evening hike. Have fun!!!!
Too bad you’re not taking the back road from Aspen through Crested Butte- a great drive & the last great mountain town. Spent lots of time there!
