We started the day with a glorious walk around the Memorials and the Tidal Basin. There is no doubt that a lot of great men and women have fought really hard for our freedoms, choices, democracies, and justice. Each Memorial was moving in a special way. A return trip to Old Ebbitt’s Grill was our choice for lunch. With one afternoon in DC remaining, we decided to spend a couple of hours in the Senate Gallery. We saw many Senators fight so hard for the rights of women across the the country. And then Mike Pence rushed over to the Senate from the White House and with one sentence, took away guaranteed protection and choices for Zoe, Ellie, myself, and every other woman in this nation. It was surreal. We wrapped up the DC experience with a great dinner at a local book shop that serves fresh crab and local IPAs.
