Today started with another five and a half hours of driving. It turns out Florida is a damn long way from Denver. I guess we knew that, but actually driving it is another matter. Thankfully, we’re here now! Palm Beach, FL. We checked into Kimpton #4 of the trip right about 2 this afternoon and after a quick stop in the room headed right for the beach.
The water and air were perfect beach sitting weather. We had lounge chairs and umbrellas waiting for us and drinks already in hand. The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the sand temperature. It was hot! We managed to make the sprint for our chairs to the ocean several times though and had a lovely afternoon playing in the waves.
After enjoying wine hour we spent some time swimming in the pool, which is also very nice. We had it pretty much to ourselves and took advantage of the situation to teach the girls how to have chicken fights.
The highlight of the day may well have been our dinner at Brandon’s, the Kimpton restaurant. Absolutely everything we ate was delicious and perfectly cooked. Our table looked out over the ocean and we lounged around enjoying the view.
Tomorrow it’s more beach, sand, and sun. We’ll hang by the pool in the morning and then make a quick hour and a half drive down to Miami. Yes, there’ll be another Kimpton and we’ve already scoped out a Cuban restaurant for dinner. We’re going to keep living this lifestyle for as long as we can: rock & roll!
