For four years now, Zak and I have gone apple picking at Jonamac Orchard in Malta, Illinois and this year was Zoe’s first time ever apple picking. The forecast called for severe storms and large hail in the afternoon, but Zak wouldn’t let that stop him from having fun on one of his few days off from work. We headed westward in the morning and arrived long before any storm developed. Zoe was absolutely darling, playing with the apples and tasting many different varieties. She loved attempting to yank the fruit off the trees and batting leaves from her face. We ended up picking nearly one hundred apples! I see apple pies, Zoe applesauce, grown up applesauce, apples and pork chops, and apple crisps in our future! Fortunately, we totally missed the storm and had a perfect day!!
