The other night Zoe and I were eating dinner together while Zak was working.  I had fed her the main dishes and she was munching on Gerber’s finger food snacks and small pieces of honeydew.  See http://www.gerber.com/prodcat?catid=524 for more information.  I would put a few pieces of Fruit and Veggie Puffs, as well as some honeydew on her tray and she knows that she has to finish what’s in front of her before I’ll give her more.  About half way though my dinner, out of the corner of my eye, I see Zoe push some honeydew into her lap and only eat the snacks.  I thought it was an accident and put a new pile of food in front of her.  As I watched her, she picked up each piece of honeydew and dropped them into her lap while only eating the snacks.  I had caught this sneaky, but very bright, girl of ours hiding the food she didn’t want!  Now, I remember being 7 or 8 and hiding peas under the potatoes or stuffing my napkin full of Chicken Tonight (I feel like Chicken Tonight!  Anyone remember?) and gracefully tossing it in the garbage when my parents weren’t looking, but Zoe is only 9 months old!!!  She is certainly going to keep us on our toes!
