Zoe managed to survive her first cold. Last Wednesday and Thursday were pretty sad, but of course Zoe was able to keep smiling through the dripping nose, fever, and sneezes. She had such a positive attitude, even though it was quite clear she was pretty miserable. We did learn that she hates having her nose wiped, which was necessary, especially when she had drippings reaching her mouth. She would throw her head side to side to avoid being attacked by that vicious Kleenex. Most times Zak would be at one side of her head, and I would be at the other and we would both attempt to sneak a wipe in as she violently shook her head back and fourth. I’m glad she’s feeling better now, and I hope she never gets sick again. It was to traumatizing for me.
Just as she was starting to get a bit better we sent her off with Grandma and Grandpa for the night so we could go out with friends. We hear that Zoe was perfect the entire time. They were going to see a hot air balloon show, but it got cancelled due to the wind, so they went on a walk instead. Zoe was a great sleeper and an ideal houseguest. Lucky Grandma and Grandpa.
We went to Ravinia with Nic, Val, Dave, and Linsday to celebrate Zak’s graduation. None of us had been before and we all had a great time. It was a pretty cold night for June, but we were pretty bundled up and managed to stay warm. I don’t think that any of us thought that we’d run out of the eight bottles of wine we brought and have to buy two more bottles, but when you’re with great friends there’s no saying what can happen.
Although we weren’t together the whole family had a great weekend and we are all looking forward next time.
