Today was a very big day for our kiddo. First, Zoe turned 5 months old today! I can’t believe that 5 months have gone by already. I keep telling her to slow down, but it doesn’t seem to be working.
To celebrate today being her 5 th month birthday (Zak just celebrated his 319 th month birthday about a week ago!) we started feeding Zoe solid foods. Whoa! My baby is growing up…real food…well sort of real food. I certainly wouldn’t eat what we fed her, but I guess it’s a good start if you’ve never eaten anything before! We started with 1 teaspoon of rice cereal. Yummm. Of course we served it with a small side salad, a porterhouse steak, a baked potato, and finished the meal with a nice slice of chocolate cake. I mean, 1 teaspoon of anything is hardly a meal, let alone rice cereal. All joking aside, she loved it and gobbled it right up. She enjoyed the spoon being in her mouth and even grabbed it a few times. It was fairly messy and we decided we would need to invest in some plastic, washable bibs, so I wasn’t doing a load of bibs every other day. She did not have any increased spit up, or any other noticeable reaction yet; although, we’re still waiting for a dirty diaper!
We spent a couple hours this afternoon at the zoo and for the first time there, Zoe showed some interest in an animal. I am almost embarrassed to say that the animal was a goose, but it entertained Zoe. Or maybe I did. You see, I was attacked by a goose in Boston and am pretty terrified of them (and all other things nature-esque.) So I was running around like a fool and Zoe was just watching the whole situation with a face of sheer amusement.
To finish the day, Zak and I are going out to dinner with friends…without Zoe! My parents are coming over to baby sit in a short bit and then we’re outta here! We are all really looking forward to the evening. Hopefully Zoe will be on her best behavior, although if you remember our trip to Chicago , she tends to be a star with my parents!
