You love and love until you don’t think you can love anymore. Then she does something amazing. She bashfully flashes that gummy smile of hers and your heart grows more. Or she gently caresses your back while eating and your heart grows more. You love and love until you don’t think you can love anymore. Then suddenly something isn’t perfect. You discover she has a heart murmur, and again your heart grows. You love and love until you don’t think you can love anymore. And you cry, because you love so dearly.
At Zoe’s two-month appointment on Friday, her doctor discovered a small heart murmur. Zak and I immediately knew something wasn’t right. He was spending too much time listening to her heartbeat. Chances are it is a small murmur (which is a hole in the valves) and her heart will fix itself by the time she is one, but we have to see a cardiologist. She also received her vaccinations, which was obviously quite painful. Her face turned bright red and she let out the strongest, loudest scream. I cried. It was a tough appointment for us.
On a lighter note, Zoe is a growing girl. She is now 13 pounds 9 ounces and is 23 and a-half inches long. She is in the 90 th percentile for weight and 95 th percentile for length. At least she isn’t in the 90 th percentile for weight and 10 th percentile for length! Anyway, we’re proud of our big girl!!
Aside from the doctor’s appointment she had a great week. She has turned into a smiling machine and loves to play with Zak when he comes home from work. We went to Grandpa Harry’s place on Wednesday, and he loved showing her off to his friends at the bank and library. Thursday was Starbucks day, and I continued to read “Million Little Pieces” in spite of the lying James Frey. We also went to Elgin for just a couple of hours on Friday. I have found these outings help me stay occupied interested in things other than Oprah and Martha! We don’t have any big plans for this week.
We’ll certainly keep you updated with all that is going on!
