I’d first like to point out that I am doing (at least in my own opinion) quite well at blogging. Take note girls!
Saturday was the Dolores River Festival and, just as there were last year, some great bands were in the lineup. When I was here in March I got to see Birds of Play at the Mancos Opera House and they quickly became one of my favorite bands. I was ecstatic to see them on the bill again. They put on a great show, and at an hour and 45 minutes it felt like just seeing them would have been a great concert. Yves Giraud (who hosts many of the open mics in Montezuma County) and his band Horizon put on a solid performance. A-mac and The Heights were entertaining in the “if Dirty Heads were from Denver” kind of way.

Sunday was a full and busy day for me. I hadn’t yet been to Absolute Bakery this trip so I headed there as soon as I woke up for breakfast. I also got in my second ride at Phil’s of the summer and I think a little more time at elevation helped, it wasn’t nearly as tough as my first ride. I stopped in Cortez for groceries, then spent the afternoon at home projecting.
Late afternoon I headed back to Durango for a second stop at Home Depot. Every good project seems to require way too many trips there and at 2 hours round trip they’re much more annoying than in Chicago. I was able to make the best of it though by timing it so I could watch game 2 of the NBA finals at Steamworks.

There isn’t a lot to report from yesterday or today. They’ve both been incredibly busy with trying to wrap projects up and get the house clean and ready for the girls arrival tomorrow morning. Have a great and safe flight fam, I’ll pick you up at the airport!
