Projects and Dolores River Fest Volunteering

It’s been a busy couple days in Mancos. Mostly I’ve been working around the house. The ladders and railings for the bunks are nearly finished. Unfortunately, I failed to take into account how thick the fittings for the pipe I’m building with were so I had to order a few replacement pieces that I have to wait for before they can actually be installed.

I’ve also been working on another project to reuse some of the wood from the pallets our patio furniture came on. I’ve told Molly it’s going to be a surprise for her and that seems to be making her very nervous. I’ve never claimed to be a good woodworker, but I’ve also never been afraid to try something new. I’ll be sure to update with an actual explanation and photo once it’s finished.

Staining the wood was actually the part of the project I was most nervous about.
I think they turned out just fine though.

I’ve also had a couple fun excursions. I made it to trivia night at the Mancos Brewey on Wednesday and made an honorable middle-of-the-pack showing. This afternoon I volunteered as a part of the set-up crew for the Dolores River Festival. Once again my experience in putting up farmer’s market tents proved invaluable. I’m writing this post from the deck at Montezuma Mexican in Dolores and will head to the Dolores River Brewery in a bit for the pre-festival show. I can’t help being a little jealous that the girls are at Taylor Swift though.

It turned out that I knew a lot about Mexican Geography and SciFi TV.
I did not know much about “60s, 70s, and maybe 80s music”.
I pounded most of those stakes.
