Rest Day

Finally, we got to sleep in! The perfect start to a rest day. Coffee on the porch, a good book, and no expectations for the day! Perfection!

I spent the morning painting. I had never used oil paints before and had no idea what I was doing. It was fun to experiment and I’m pretty happy with the little painting of Mesa Verde at sunset I did. Any and all critiques and tips from those more familiar with the medium are welcome!

We headed to Durango in the late afternoon with two things on our must find asap list: a good rain/hiking jacket for Zoe and a champagne stopper. We found the perfect jacket for Zoe, but struck out with the champagne stopper. We brought a case of Cecilia B back from Chicago, but don’t have a way to preserve the bubbles here. Ugh!

We headed to Durango Distillery for our favorite old fashioneds in town and met a lovely couple. Then something happened that is better left not written about. Following that situation, we had a lovely dinner at El Moro. It was a simple rest day with so many laughs. We’re back on the trails tomorrow!
