It was a Mancos (and Dolores) kind of day. Each night we write in a journal about the day. Tonight I mentioned that it was kind of a boring day and was met with stares of bewilderment. I didn’t mean it in a negative way, we just didn’t do anything too adventurous, or, I’m assuming, exciting to read about.
We started the day at Absolutely Bakery and Cafe, the establishment that convinced us to build a house nearby. I couldn’t imagine a future without ABC in it, so that’s why we picked Mancos. After brunch we went back to the house and I read while the girls made beaded bracelets together. It was nice hearing them laugh together. I’m not sure what Zak was doing, but it involved a saw.
This afternoon we went to Dolores for the farmers market and a beer at Dolores River Brewery. I was shocked to hear the bartender say, “You’re Molly, right?” Turns out Zak and I met her and her mom at a Stillhouse Junkies concert in Cortez years ago, before covid. I often get teased by the family for knowing everyone in town and I guess that reputation is staying with me out here.
Wednesday nights are trivia nights at the Mancos Brewery presented by the Mancos Library. (Oh, we got library cards today so apparently it’s legal to have them in more than one state.) We did shamefully bad at trivia, but the categories were 80s shows theme songs, quotes, and movies. At one point when the emcee announced our score there was a collective sigh of “awwww” from the other teams. But the food and beer were great, as always.
We’re wrapping up the day watching the moon rise. Tomorrow…adventure!
