Hiking the Fiery Furnace

Today is an amazing day so far. We hiked the Fiery Furnace which is so much fun because you get to scramble, climb rocks, and just explore the different canyons.

This morning we got to sleep in and woke up at 6:30. We got to have the delicious breakfast at the hotel because we are World of Hyatt members (of course!). I had a piece of zucchini bread, blueberries, and potatoes and then we were off.

The drive from our hotel to the trailhead was about 45 minutes. When we got out of the car the warm desert air blew across our faces. That is one of my favorite hikes because I get to climb things. It was so refreshing to climb to the top of a rock just to find another one to climb up. The hike was only about 4 miles and took us about 3.5 hours because of all the scrambling.

After we were done hiking we drove up the road a little bit and had a picnic. Then we drove to the Windows section of the park and waited for a spot and we found a million licence plates that we still need. When we finally found a parking spot we walked to double arch.

After we finished that walk we dropped off Ellie at the visitors center which Ellie will have to tell you all about in her post.

While Ellie was having the best experience of her life. I had a very peaceful hike with my parents and no made up Ellie facts. We hiked courthouse wash rock art which was super fun because there was a lot of scrambling and holding on to the side of a rock (don’t worry grandma, it was almost 100% safe) the pictograph and petroglyphs that we saw were all incredible and they were huge.

After we picked E up from the visitors center we went back to our very nice hotel and swam for an hour and a half.

Once we we’re all cooled off on the pool we got ready for dinner with ranger Mike. We decided to go to Thai Bella for dinner and it was really fun also the food was delicious. We haven’t eaten a real meal since lunch on Saturday.

I honestly have no idea what we are doing tomorrow but what ever we do it will be fun and hot.
