Grand Canyon

This Morning I woke up at 6:20 and had a good night sleep for camping. We had poptarts and kix for breakfast and started the hike.

One of the things I am most afraid of is canyons, especially hiking in them. My family wants to hike the grand canyon Spring break of 2020. I have always said no and that I would stay home. I don’t know if my fear is because of the flash floods we were in in Arches or if it’s because there is a big home in the ground. Well anyway we hiked a mile and a half into it. Although it was super scary and I was worried I was going to fall in it was still beautiful. And the sign with a picture of a guy who had a bunch of vomit on the floor and a stream coming out of his mouth. That was very reassuring. It was also reassuring when the ranger said 2 people died this month hiking into the grand canyon this month. By then I thought I was going to die. After about 40 minutes we were at our turn around point. The hike down was easy. The trail was nice thanks to the people before the CCC. The hike up was about an hour. Altogether it was 1,100 feet and the scariest thing I have ever done.

After the hike we went to a food court thing it reminded me of IKEA but there was no good food. We ended up with 2 beers, 2 sodas, 5 glasses for water(we ordered 4 but got 5), and a cinnamon roll. After our break with WiFi. (That’s hard to get in the middle of nowhere.) And we were off. We started off again.

This time we started hiking 2 miles and it was fun because each step represented 10 million year. For my dad and I it was 11 steps. We made it to a museum after a star crunch break we continued on finally making it to the visitors center. We refilled the blatter we brought we started back up again. After passing where we went for dinner last night we decided to stop. We had James as our server and we had a great time.

After we finished up the trail we checked into the Thunderbird Lodge and are going to El Tavar for dinner.
