In yesterday’s Pretrip Interview post I mentioned that the thing I’m most afraid of for this trip is the heat. What we left out of that post was that we were writing it from our neighborhood bar since it is air conditioned and our house isn’t. It’s been so hot here lately that the hour and a half of working on the blog was even worth it for Ellie who generally does anything she can to get out of writing.
With the high today pushing 100 we decided to escape to the cool comfort of Target for what should be our last big pre-trip shopping trip. Everyone else is blogging the details so I’m not going to get too much into it. These last couple days have strongly reinforced my fear of the heat this summer.
We followed up the Target trip with a stop at the McDonald’s next to the corporate headquarters to scout for pizza. There wasn’t any. We rounded out the afternoon by heading to the fancy reclining seat theater (which I’d never been to before) where we chose our movie by which one had the longest running time. Luckily Black Panther turned out to be pretty good.
Sadly, we’re home now. It is hot. I’m more than a bit worried about this summer.
