Today we started off by waking up at 4:15. We climbed our first 14er today, Mount Bierstadt. We got dressing in our tent, packed up camp, and then drove about 2 miles to the trail head. The total milage was 8 miles, the elevation was 2600 feet. It took us seven hours.
The hike up was hard except for the very beginning because it was downhill. We saw lots of wild flowers. They were purple, blue, red, white, pink, and yellow. All the colors you can think of. We also crossed a big river. The first time we crossed it I took off my shoes about halfway through. But the second time we crossed it I did not have to. The hike was hard on the way up.
At the very tippy top we saw two marmots. We got to have Cliff bars like at all the tops of mountains. I felt accomplished, pretty, proud, strong, and beautiful.
The way down was very steep. I fell three times. Finally we could see Fred. He was smiling and taking selfies. We all plopped off our boots and went inside of the car. We drove about an hour to the Lewis Sweet Shoope. We got medium sized malts which was way too big like last time. We also got tacos that my mom wasn’t supposed to have because earlier in the hike she said she didn’t want them.
For dinner we went to Chipotle. We haven’t had Chipotle in so long. Now we are writing blog posts and will stay at the beautiful Kimpton.
