Fossil Digging and Baker NV

This morning we slept in because we were all sooooo tired from the long exhausting night we had last night filled with obnoxious people on HGTV and pizza. We woke up to my mom randomly singing “Oh, yeah, this is happening.” So that was weird.

Then we drove about 3 hours to the trilobite excavating spot. Google maps suggested that we drive down a little dirt road to get there but instead we ended up on a road called Death Canyon Road. That was definitely not petrifying at all. After the drive to get there we met Cole at the shack where they hand out hammers and buckets. We also learned that the trilobite were from 550 million years ago.

Sure it was cool to find fossils but the best part was hitting rocks with hammers. Plus I only found like 4 trilobite while everyone else found at least 15 so that was depressing. The coolest things I found though that no one else did were 2 geodes one was marbleish and the other one was a typical geode but gold to pink ombre color.

After our 2 hours were up (we had the option of 2, 4, or 8 hours) we handed back our buckets and put or findings into the car.

As we were driving towards Baker we came across a couple whose motercycle broke down and they didn’t have service so we let them use our phone to call the motercycle shop. After that little stop we continued on our way to Nevada over some gummy bears and Netflix.

When we got to the Stargazer Inn we were greated by Jake who remembered us from 2 years ago. We checked in to our super cute room and went on the patio to play Xoom Cubes. I am super excited for dinner tonight at Kerouac’s.
