Finally, the day we have been waiting for, the beginning of rtxviii begun!
We woke up at 6:00 put on our Knotty by Nature shirts and left. We were on the road by 6:40 am. While driving Ellie and I entertained ourselves by doing 9 days of our summer workbooks, competing in color switch and singing along the the good songs.
Around noonish we stopped for lunch. I got chicken tenders, and raspberry Coke. It was fine. Then after lunch I was about to read but apparently I forgot to actually download the books after I got them. So instead I had to play the best game ever; Wood Block Puzzle.
At about 2:15ish we got to the Truman Historic site. (I just realized you can type emojis on here so, 👍💞🐶) Continuing on when we got there ` they were sold out of tickets to actually see his house. So we got our Junior Ranger book and wandered around the visitors center. We watched the 12 minute film about his life. After we watched the film we walked around and note to self Kansas City is hot. We saw his car and his house from outside the gate. We also went into the museum which was his aunts house and fun fact he met his wife Bess when his aunt said she was going to take the cake pan she borrowed from Bess’ mother back . Harry was all about that and came back an hour later with a new girlfriend.💋 #truelove We got our Junior Ranger books and pins.
Now, think to yourself what do you imagine Kansas City as. Well, its quite, but modernish. We walked around a little bit and came across a place called Clinton’s Soda fountain which Harry S. Truman had his first job at. We all enjoyed a cold Black Cherry Soda.
Next we wanted to find something else to do so we went to this food market thing. It was quite but looked like it was good in the afternoon.
Finally we made our way to Joe’s BBQ. It was just as I had remembered it. We shared brisket, pulled pork, ribs, gumbo, beens, rice, onion rings, fries, and other stuff. It was very delicious.
Now we are on the way to the hotel.
