Waking up in Colorado with a smile on my face I knew that it was going to be an extravagant day, and I was right. We started the morning at 6:00 with everyone in a perky, cheerful mood, (except for one person when she had to use grown-up tooth paste for the first time, it wasn’t me.) We ate a quick breakfast and were on the road by 7:00.
When we entered the park we saw the sign that said the Bear Lake parking lot is full, but it says that 24/7 so we decided to go for it. We drove about half a hour into the park and were at what we thought would be Fred’s home for the day. It wasn’t. Instead we had to drive up the park road and to the Park and Ride. We decided the the line for Ride was too long so we went on a different hike. This one was very pretty, we saw Lake Bierstadt, Bear Lake, and more that I don’t know the name of.
The hike was VERY steep, it reminded me of climbing a mountain. We did 800 feet of elevation and 6.0 miles. The hike was pretty uneventful except for a few of little things because I’m not the best writer I won’t be able to give you a minute by minute description of the day. Here are the top best small moments.
- In Colorado there is a lot of snow now and because Colorado is hot I thought that the snow would be hot. Crazy, right? Well it got even crazier when I asked “ Wait, is it cold, the snow?” You are probably laughing out loud but I was serious. When my mom said “Yes, it’s snow.” I thought she was joking. When I stuck my had in it it was freezing. #dumbmoment.
- Throughout the National Parks there are a lot of bears so you have to carry Bear Spray. We bought our Bear Spray at Yellowstone and were in their newspaper for it. If you have never heard of Bear Spray or don’t know what it is it makes the bears (or people) feel stingy or dizzy. You ask why I said people is because when my dad set his bag down it sprayed. Lukily, my sister and I were a couple yards ahead and my dad was coughing ( I thought that he was getting sick) and my mom was telling “RUN, DRINK WATER” Ellie and had no idea what was going on and my mom and dad were both screaming and coughing so I did my big sister thing and checked for bears. None. No animals, I was so confused when my dad choked out what had happened: He put down his bag and the bear spray sprayed. We had somewhere along the way lost the safety cap and it sprayed open.
- WE GOT LOST!! I didn’t think that this was that significant but we got lost. Just for a few minutes, After a bit of exploting we found where we had to be.
Because it is 9:30 and I a really tired the last part is going to be quick. We drove back to Estes Park. The hotel we are staying in is rather nice we sat on the porch for a little bit and then went to a cowboyboy Brad concert. Unlike my sister I’m not a big fangirl. After that we went to the Wheel Bar for some Gyros and Kiddie Cocktails.
*Sorry for the lack of explaination at the bottom it is late and I a tired.
