I can’t believe that after 40 days on the road we’ll be home in less than 24 hours. We have a bunch of reflection type posts planned so I’m not going to do that now. I will say though that it has been an amazing six weeks. We are all so lucky to be able to spend this time together gallivanting around the country together.
We decided to spend this last true morning of the trip hanging out at the hotel. I think it was a combination of not wanting to start the drive, not wanting it to be over, and not wanting to leave the paradise of the Vero Beach Hotel. We spent one last morning at the pool and the beach. The girls and I even ended our time in the ocean with one last perfect giant wave and then sprinted to the shore so that our last one would be a really big one.
We showered one last Kimpton time, a least until our trip to Cleveland in September. Then we packed everything up one last time and headed out to the car. For a ten hour drive, the day flew by pretty quickly. I think I’ve even more adapted to long periods of car time than I was before the trip. We only made three stops: two for gas and one for dinner. Now we’ve got one last night in a hotel before the final push to home.
It really is crazy to think that by this time tomorrow this will all be a memory. It has been a fabulous dream, though. I suppose eventually the time had to come for someone to wake me up.
