Today was a very stressful day. We hiked our first mountain today, Mount Elbert. We were hiking uphill for flour hours. It was tiring. And I think I took at least fifty breaks. The four hours were long because my mom and I were the leaders for some of the time. We were going awfully slow. I think my steps were an inch apart. It took me at least 1000 steps to get up. We finally reached the top, only we still had a mile to go. It was all uphill and on rocks. It was straight up. It took us about half an hour to get up. The elevation was 13,800 feet. And the whole way up we were stumbling over rocks and crawling up. We finally reached a point where we had half a mile to go. It was 12:30ish and we knew we were supposed to be off the summit by 12 and below treeline by 2. So we started to head down. It was very steep. Once we hiked an hour. We took a little break. About two minutes earlier I had said I need to lose my tooth on the mountain. Two mines later we stopped at a rock. My dad tried to pull out my tooth but he couldn’t grab onto it. Then my mom tried and guess what she did. She yanked my tooth forward and pulled it out. Now I can add mountain tooth to my collection. I have birthday tooth, soccer tooth, two regular teeth, and now mountain tooth. The steepness didn’t end. We hiked all the way to tree level. We finally reached the one mile point. And then we took another big stretch to Fred. Fred was waiting there with cold water. We took off hiking boots, put on flip flops, and drove to the hotel. We went inside and then took showers. My dad went out to get us pizza. We ate pizza ands now we are going to bed.
