So much joy and laughter
Wait to meet us there
Stay close to me sweet hummingbird
Tyler Burkum
First full day with the fam! It started off quietly, on my own in fact, with a cup of coffee in one hand and a crochet hook in the other. I was sitting on the deck working on the blanket that I’ve been working on forever when Hugo, the hummingbird that has made numerous apperances suddenly materialized just a few feet away looking straight at me. I’d see him around a few time since I got here, but this morning was the first time he stopped by to say “Hello”. I quietly greeted him and thanked him for stopping by. Then after a few more moments of checking me out he flew off on urgent hummingbird business.
After my second cup of coffee Molly made it out of bed and we went upstairs to sit on the deck for a third (or first) cup when Hugo stopped by again. He must have decided needed a bit more agressive greeting because he buzzed her head a couple times and then flew off. I think it was probably just his way of asking who the new person was. I’ll explain about her tomorrow morning if he stops by again.
Over the rest of the day we hit some of everyones favorite local spots: Absolute Bakery for brunch, the Dolores Farmer’s Market where I found a bracelet that I’ve been searching for for years, theh Dolores River Brewery for a beer and games, and Mancos Brewery for trivia and the purpliest drink I’ve ever had.
There was also a brief stop at home for more work on the bunks. I got the upper one in Zoe’s room about half framed in. This may not be a quick project, but it is going to be a well done one. Now we’re back at home. The girls are doing their teenage thing for a while while Molly straightens her hair and I type up my post. I assume we’ll all meet up for a bit of time on the porch for blog reading before bed.
